When God Calls the Note

To call the note is when a bank has a loan on a property and they "call it in." Meaning....they demand it paid.

We are in so much debt to the Lord. And we have multiple areas of riches....financial, emotional, physical, interpersonal, time, energy....etc.

What happens when God calls the note? When the Lord says that it's time to give Him that area of riches?

Would you give Him your savings account in order to be obedient and follow Him? Would you place yourself in harm's way (laying down your bodily riches) in order to follow Him?

And once the note is called within a particular season, surely it marks the experience and behavior of that saint. Ten years hence, that saint knows that any of his riches can be called in. Thus the riches are held in daily thankfulness with a sense of transitory blessing, instead of permanent ownership.

Abraham laid down his riches in the form of Isaac. And maybe every saint will be brought to some fork in the road where they'll be asked to lay down riches when God calls the note. Riches were taken from Job. Jonah laid down his status as the official priest of the state and preached to the outsiders.

And the test isn’t just to lay down your riches, but lay it down in joy, knowing that the Lord will give you an upgrade.

(Hint: It appears to me that He will usually request one thing and bring you to a type of bankruptcy. But, in so doing, He will fill in so many other areas of faith, providing incredible strength through the process.)

In this season, watch out for distractions. The enemy will tell you that you’ve made a wrong turn. Dave Ramsey would never allow this! And even your own body and mind will cry out for you to leave the pouring out process.

The way I read the Bible is the opposite of a prosperity Gospel. At some point along the way, He will call in the note and ask you to give back to Him what felt like yours and what you, in your mind, appeared to have earned.

If you're not in the "note" season, you can have your eye toward it. And if you have already experienced a "note" season, you can look back in thankfulness for what you gained in the pouring out. The process is brutal, but the end result is worth the price.
