MEDIA SHAPES MINDSET

I remember it quite well. It was a movie. And the film included a flying dragon dog thing and being trapped at school overnight, and an evil wolf.

That movie was released in 1984 and shaped the way I thought about school. It scared me, and it set my mind to perceive the world in a certain way.

I’m guessing you had that movie or that show, which shaped your reality.

More than we know, media shapes mindset. There is a body of research that indicates media shapes how we think of all kinds of things: high school, relationships, friendships, love, sex, marriage, crime, and police activity.

If you want new thoughts and new feelings, why don’t you begin taking stock of what you’re consuming? Take a minute to take a sort of inventory of what you’ve consumed in the past month.

What if you began filling those spots with new ones? Navigate toward powerful and positive media voices.

You don’t have to be scared of the flying dragon dog thing anymore.
